Creating Characters, Guilds and Alliances
This site supports characters, guilds and alliances active in MapleStory Global, Europe, Vietnam and MapleSEA. Only characters listed on Nexon's rankings page may be added to the site. Support for unlisted characters may be added should there be sufficient demand.
Creating Characters
To create a character click Add MapleStory content - Character. You will be taken to a page with a number of fields to fill in. Firstly, enter the name of your character. Secondly enter the guild to which they belong. Note that if you are a guild master you should leave the guild field blank for the time being. Additionally, leave this field blank if you are guildless or your guild master is yet to register here. Thirdly, enter the 2nd job path followed by your character. Finally, click Save.
The user selects the guild, but there is an authorisation step that will be discussed later. This may seem a little strange, compared to how the game works, but this method reduces the burden of work heaped on the guild master. Additionally, encouraging your guild members to sign up will increase activity on your guild page.
Creating Guilds
If you are a guild master (for the purposes of this site the person charged with the daily running of the guild), now is a good time to create your guild. An individual guild should be created only once. Click Add MapleStory content - Guild. Here you can choose the guild name, as well as emblem (optimally 200x200). You must select the character acting as the guild master. Optionally, you may choose the guild alliance, provided it has already been registered on the site, following the procedure below. If the guild is allianceless or, if you are the alliance master, please leave this field blank for now. Click Save. The guild field of the chosen master character is then automatically filled in, and the character promoted accordingly.
Creating Alliances
If you are the acting master of a guild alliance, now you can create your alliance. Click Add MapleStory content - Alliance. The alliance doesn't really do very much; it is just a container for guilds, without any real content. In common with the game itself, it provides a means to post content that is visible to all allianced guilds. A rankings table for all characters in the alliance is provided.
Managing Characters and Guilds
Managing Characters
If you click the My account link you will be taken to your profile. Note that any content shown here is public. This page displays all the characters that you have created. If you want to change a character's guild click the link in the table that displays the character's name. Then click Edit, enter the guild name, and then click Save. Once a character has been created, the name cannot be changed. To remove a character click Edit and then click Delete.
Managing Guilds
To view the guilds that you are associated with, click the Guilds link at the top of the page. A list of guild pages to which you can post content is displayed. This list is determined from the list of characters you have created, the guilds to which they belong, and any guilds that they are allianced with. Below this a table of all guilds signed up to the site is shown.
Guild pages have a tab titled Manage. Here you can authorise new members or promote existing ones. Promotion rules are similar to those in-game. Only after you've authorised a new user can they post to the guild page. Note that mastership of a guild can be transferred to another guild member by clicking Edit.
Creating Content on your Guild Page
Guild pages are the hub for information here. When you go to a guild page you will see levelling news in the block to the left and any upcoming events highlight the appropriate calendar day. Each guild page has a number of tabs. The view tab is editable by the guild master and displays the guild emblem, a member count, and a guild biography. Next to this is a Content tab that displays posts and events posted by guild members. A Gallery tab shows all screenshots (screenies) posted by guild members. A Ranks tab shows a table listing all guild members, their associated levels and fames, as well as their levelling history plotted for the last month. Finally, a Manage tab facilitates the promotion and expulsion of guild members as described in the previous section.
There are three types of content that may be posted to a guild page by its members:
Note that before you can post said content you must first wait to be authorised into a guild by the guild master or one of the jr. masters. To create one of these types click Create content and choose the type from the displayed list. Each of these types possesses a Guilds field. Here, you can select on which guild pages your content will appear. This includes all guilds and alliances to which you belong. For the sake of inclusivity the options are checked by default.
If you don't choose anything in the Guilds field, then your post won't appear on any guild page. However, if you click My account you'll notice a Gallery tab. Here, all your posted screenies will appear. You can have your own album to hold Screenies destined for the forum or the contents of another post.
When you are posting content you can choose its target audience via the Privacy field. There are three options: Public, Member and Jr. Master. These should be self-explanatory. Screenshots may be made private to yourself by deselecting all guild pages and selecting Member.
Items
New to the site is the ability to show off the weapons and armours held by your characters. Note this feature is entirely dependent on Javascript. Please ensure this is enabled in your browser. To manage your inventory click the Items link at the top of the page. Here, you will see a list of characters associated with your account and their inventories. From the drop down boxes you can select new items, which will be displayed in the + box. Drag these items into your inventory, click them to display their stats and upgrade or downgrade them using the up/down arrows.
Items may be loaned to other characters by dragging them from your inventory to the mail box. You will be asked to name the recipient. This feature is intended as a means to keep track of your loaned items, something I find invaluable as old age sets in. When you click on one of your characters in My account you will see the inventory displayed as well as a list of items on loan. Note that all inventories are regarded as public at the moment. In future, should there be sufficient demand, privacy settings will be added. The same applies for a means to manage guild mules.
More detailed and pictorial help will follow; however, for the time-being I hope this wall of text suffices. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me, via the link below.
